It is a large, diversified portfolio in terms of origin, location and use. The Bank's holdings comprise mainly bank buildings that are an important part of the urban landscape and are landmarks for their local communities. The remainder of the portfolio is made up of various types of income-generating properties and other properties available for sale following the reorganization of the Bank's branch network (for further details, see ' The disposal of Banca d'Italia's real estate assets '). Conservation and enhancement play a central role in how the Bank manages its real estate. The Bank understands and promotes the cultural, as well as the financial, value of its real estate assets, most of which are historically and/or architecturally unique.
